Multiplayer sudoku — play 1v1 online

Race a real opponent on the same puzzle at the same moment. Play ranked matches against players at your level, or challenge a friend to a friendly duel. Free, in your browser and on Android, with no ads.

How a 1v1 sudoku match works

  1. Pick a division. Beginner, Intermediate or Expert — each has its own puzzles and its own rating.
  2. Get matched. The queue finds an opponent close to your rating, usually within seconds.
  3. Solve the same grid. Both of you start at the same moment. You see your opponent's progress live, never their digits.
  4. Lowest total time wins. Your time plus penalties: 15 seconds per mistake and a few seconds per hint. When one player finishes, the other gets exactly the time they still need to catch up.

The full details are in the match rules.

Ranked 1v1

Every ranked match moves your sudoku ELO rating — beat a stronger player and you gain more. Ranked wins also count toward the monthly SC League, where the top three in each division earn a champion badge.

Fair by design

  • Same puzzle, same start. Nobody gets an easier grid or a head start.
  • Time is measured on the server. A slow phone or connection doesn't decide the match.
  • Penalties are transparent. You see both players' penalties while the opponent is catching up.
  • Matched by skill. Ratings keep opponents close, and each division is rated separately.

Multiplayer sudoku FAQ

Can I play sudoku against other people online?

Yes. On Sudoku Corner you play live 1v1 sudoku: you and your opponent get the same puzzle at the same moment and race to solve it. It runs in the browser and in the Android app, free and without ads.

How does a 1v1 sudoku match work?

Both players solve the same grid. Mistakes add 15 seconds and hints add a few seconds each. The lower total time wins. When one player finishes, the other gets exactly the time they still need to catch up — plus a few seconds for the network — so a match is never decided by a slow connection.

Can I play sudoku with friends?

Yes. Add a friend and send a friendly challenge, or share an invite link. Friendly matches use the same rules as ranked ones but do not change your rating.

Do I need to wait long for an opponent?

No. The ranked queue looks for an opponent at your level and you usually start within about 20 seconds.

What do I need to start?

A free account. Solo sudoku and the daily puzzles work without one; ranked and friendly matches need an account so your rating and history are saved.

What are the divisions?

Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. Each division has its own puzzles, its own rating and its own monthly SC League table.
